Final reading response to speak

In the begining of this story Melinda was at a party and she had gotten drunk and started to wonder around in the forest and a senior started to flirt with her then he rapes her she wanted to say no but she couldnt. She went to call 911 and the cops came and everyone at the party broke out and left. Everyone in the school hated Melinda because the people in her school thought she ruined the party by calling the cops. Throughout this story Melinda has become more cautious and aware about the things around her. Nobody really wants to be her friend because of what had happend at the party so Melindas only friend was pretty much herself she always counted on herself and trusted herself. So Melinda was really dependent on herself. Melinda doesnt talk to others alot in the book because she fears that nobody will belive what she has to say. It also doesnt help that nobody took the time and effort to at least try to be Melinda's friend. Nobody knows what happend to Melinda because she never told anyone about it because shes scared about what people would say or think about her. Melinda meets heather which is her only friend because Heather also didnt have any friends so they share something in common. Until Heather meets the Marthas and Heather sort of leaves Melinda for them. Melinda decided to speak up at the end of the book and she made new friends so everything should work out if you just speak up.

Reading response to Speak

Melinda got raped by Andy Evans,  and shes been keeping it to herself she didnt even tell her parents she just kepted it to herself. Everybody hates her in the school because she called the cops on the party that she was at where she had gotten raped at. Now she is hated bu everyone and she is carrying a big secret around with her. That nobody knows about exept for her will she finnaly tell everyone about her big secret? And regain her friends back?
Melisa is having a hard time with her life right now and shes trying to keep this huge secret to herself and its not helping that noone knows about it. All of her friends at school hate her and she is having a hard time trying to get them back. Her friends hate her because she had called the cops on the party she was at. She called the cops because she got raped and she needed help because she was scared. She thought that the cops helped her but they didnt.
Melisa and her art teacher make a really strong bond throughout thw book because she has artistic skills and she doesnt do well in any other subject there were moments when shes is really good in art and others when shes really bad but its ok the art teacher always gives A's to all of his students.
Melida and the Martha's are very diffrent in this story. The marthas like to stay organized and have everything planned ahead unlike Melinda is very disorganized and waits for everything at the last minute.Melinda is an outcast and likes to be by herself most of the time and made one friend. But then lost her to the Marthas. The marthas like to tell people her problems but Melinda likes to keep things by herself. Which is why Melida lost her only friend to the Marthas. which also proves my thesis statement that you shouldnt keep things to yourself.
To conclude that Melinda needs to be more open with things like the Marthas are. If martha would have told someone she would have yold someone then everybody wouldnt think that she was such an outcast in the school. And maybe she wpuld have made more friends and people could have pitty her and she wouldnt feel so alone

Independent reading book response

The Last book i have read was The Last Song by Nicholas Sparks.
Ronnie and her little brother Jonah's Parents are divorced and they currently live with there mother until one summer they spend with there father in a small town on a beach. Ronnie pays no mind to her father and plans on not speaking to him the entire summer. But after meeting Will Ronnie starts to discover herself again and finds her love for music which her and her father share. Which may be the most important relationship with her father right now. The Relationship between Ronnie and her father grows throughout the book.
Nicholas Sparks was born on December 31, 1965 resides in New Bern, North Carolina with his wife; Cathy, their three sons; Miles, Ryan, and Landon; and twin daughters, Lexie and Savannah.
Ronnie had stopped playing music when her father left her mother then Ronnie started playing again when she had found out that her father was sick. Ronnie tells her dad not to play music while she was visiting because she doesn't like it when she hears her father play because she has not found it in herself to start playing again with her father. Ronnie did not like her relationship with her father and she has changed a lot since her parents have gotten a divorce and she does not trust her father since he has left her mother.
The Sea turtles that Ronnie had found during the begging of the book was a big part in helping the relationship grown between Ronnie and her father. It Helped the relationship grown and the sea turtles were part of the climax of there relationship because when the sea turtles hatched she had just found out that her father was sick. So the sea turtles were a big part in the relationship between Ronnie and her father.
Ronnie had finished her fathers song she had thought that her father wasnt able to finish the song because he was so sick and he played the song right before her father had passed away. Ronnie decided to finish the song because of how song her relationship between her and her father had grew so much in the past summer. Ronnie cared for her father so much when there relationship started to grow because for the past three years when there parents were divorced she didn't care for her father because she had thought it was his fault for the divorce.
A lot of children out there are going through there parent getting divorce or there parents fighting and they might blame one of there parents for this happening because they just want there parent to be together and this is a book about forgiveness and that you should always forgive no matter what and you should never be mad at anyone because you will never know what is going to happen to that person. The reader should know that Ronnie did no speak or keep in any contact with her father for three years and that they relationship had a huge change since this summer and i think that this was a summer that Ronnie will never forget because she had also met the love of her life Will

Reading Response to "Please Don't Take My Air Jordans"

My air jordans cost a hundred with tax
my suede starters jacket says raiders on the back
i'm stylin . . . smilin . . . lookin real mean
cuz it ain't about bein heard just bein seen
my leather adidas baseball cap
matches my fake gucci backpack
there's nobody out there looks good as me
but the gear costs money it sure ain't free
and i gots no job no money at all
but it's easy to steal fresh gear from the mall
parents say i shouldn't but i know i should
gots ta do what i can to make sure i look good
and the reason i have to look real fly
well to tell ya the truth man i don't know why
i guess it makes me feel special inside
when i'm wearin fresh gear i don't have to hide
but i really must get some new gear soon
or my ego will pop like a ten cent balloon
but security's tight at all the shops
everyday there are more and more cops
my crew's laughin at me cuz i'm wearin old gear
school's almost over summer is near
and i'm sportin torn jordans and need somethin new
there's only one thing left to do
cut school friday catch the subway downtown
check out my victims hangin around
maybe i'll get lucky and find easy prey
gots to get some new gear there's no other way
i'm ready and willin i'm packin my gun
this is serious bizness it sure ain't no fun
but i can't have my posse laughin at me
i'll cop somethin dope just wait you'll see
come out a the station west 4th near the park
brothers shootin hoops and someone remarks
HEY HOMES . . . WHERE'D YOU GET THOSE DEF NIKES
as i said to myself. . . i likes em . . . i likes
they were q-tip white bright and blinded my eyes
the red emblem of michael looked as if it could fly
not one spot of dirt the airs were brand new
had my pistol knew just what to do
followed him very closely behind
waited until it was just the right time
made a left turn on houston pulled out my gun and screamed
GIMME THEM JORDANS . . . and he tried ta run
took off fast but didn't get far
i fired (POW) he fell between two parked cars
he was coughin/cryin/blood dripped on the street
and i snatched them air jordans off a his feet
while layin there dyin all he could say was
please . . . don't take my air jordans away . . .
you think he'd be worried about stayin alive
as i took off with the jordans there were tears in his eyes
the very next day i bopped into school
with my brand new air jordans man was i cool
i killed to get them but hey . . . i don't care
cuz now. . . i needs a new jacket to wear
-Reg E. Gaines

Response:
In this poem it shows how the speaker wants to fit in with the crowd and he will do anything to feel accepted and to feel cool. He doesn't care how he does it or who he hurts he just wants to be cool. The speaker in this poem sounds very selfish because he is only thinking about himself and how he looks. To him it doesn't matter what he does he just wants to fit in. He killed someone for sneakers just so he could look cool. But he probably wasn't thinking about the fact that this person has a family and people who love them. I think he wouldn't be so happy if someone killed someone in the speakers family for a pair of sneakers. The speaker is desperate and just wants attention from his friends so that they think that he looks cool because he has brand new air jordans. I think that when he hurts someone for something (like the air jordans) he feels more confident in himself and he feels cooler and he wants everybody to be afraid of him because he has a gun and he will shoot you for a pair of sneakers.
I like that the poem has a rhyme scheme because i think poems that rhyme are more fun to read. I think that its better when poems sound like they have a rhythm to it,it sounds more fun and i understand the poem more when it has rhyming or a rhythm.I think that the poet (Reg E. Gaines) is trying to say that there are people in this world that would do anything to get what they want and to be careful and to try not to be one of them.

Rhyme Scheme/Narrative Poem

No School  -Kiara Martinez

I Don't want to go to school
Because i'm too cool
i don't want to go to school
id rather go to the pool

School is so boring
id rather be snoring
Mom says i have to go
but she doesn't know

i cut everyday
just to go out and play
i say what the hay
id do this any day

i call my friend Ray
Wanna go down to the bay?
Nah man No way
i gotta go to school

Man your not cool
Jay wanna go to the pool?
Nahh man i have school
you guys aren't cool

not as cool as me
how bad can not going to school be?
